Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - AxelF - 26.04.2017 I have one serious question for the administartors / developers: What's the reason behind not advertising your product? As far as I know, Gothic-Online is relatively stable mod and it is capable of providing platform for many different types of gameplay. I see many RolePlay servers and in general those are propular among players of games like ArmA or SA-MP. The lack of RP players is somehow odd in case of Gothic-Online. There are many different websites that would be useful in making your project more popular. There is very popular Nexus Modding website with VERY active forum. There is still active ModDB website. And there are many youtube personalities who should be old enough to remember Gothic 2 even though it wasn't that much popular on western market. I think some of them would gladly record small nostalgic episode about your project and Gothic 2. If this project dead, then you should at least show some respect to fans and be clear about it. You don't have to kill this forum, but You should give people some honesty. Cheers. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - Patrix - 26.04.2017 I think, that developers of this platform create something far better than old GMP:A modification. Without any or with not many servers advertising isn't a good move. Most of the players wants to play NOW. If someone would create interesting server, players and administration (not developers) should advertise the project. Developers can advertise their project, but without the servers it would be like only showing a book cover, not pages. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - Twice. - 26.04.2017 For every situation must be taken the right strategy. Bimbol knows what he does, but the fact of waiting for action is long. If anyone wants to know my opinion, then you have to prepare a field for scripters (it is constantly developing). Share examples, only concrete, without generalizations. Another important issue is the favorable conditions, and these will be at the end of the year, because Gothic 2 will celebrate its 15th birthday, this should be the largest advertising campaign of the Gothic 2 Online platform. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - Bimbol - 26.04.2017 As Patrix said what can we advertise now? There are not many servers, and most of them are not interesting for common player. Gothic with multiplayer isn't something new, so players will not play until some really good servers shows up. Gothic 2 Online is still developed. Last update was one week ago? Now we testing new version. The thing you said is textbook example of catch-22 situation. At early stages of lifecycle, games are getting their players because of the advertisement campaign. Only after some time the player base is driven by the dynamic of playerbase itself. You cannot expect that Gothic-Online, which should be consider “new” game, will get any players with proper campaign and they will create stable network of server and this will cause second much bigger flow of newcomers. That’s impossible. About player want to play “NOW”: I really do not want to point my finger and looking for someone to blame, but normally it's the job of developer to provide first simple game modes. That’s how everyone else operates. Developer gives first tools so the first users can just easily open/host the servers for other newcomers. That’s the beauty of this kind of campaign. You paint the picture of holy-fucking-awesome game and try to sell it. Just don’t lie too much and talk a lot about possibilities, features, goals and so on. About not interesting server: My dear. You should be the one who provides simple mode like deathmatches and TDMs, capture the flags, horde modes, etc. Without too many fancy features. Core playable gameplay modes. Easy to find. Easy to install. Easy to host. Easy to do everything. Thanks for the answers and discussion. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - Kemi - 13.10.2017 maybe we should start G2O Team , to make an internation "Prototype" RP Server for this Project. Everyone can later use the datas as Open Source , so no ones waste time and can easly transform this later to an own server. Its much mure usefull than making own servers. I would love to help on such a Project RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - AxelF - 14.10.2017 (13.10.2017, 12:19)Gracu Wrote: RP? Nope. You should put your childish egoism in the deepest pocket available and understand that you should pick the most popular modes and provide basic game-modes for them. This is video game and video games target kids(not counting people like me - adults who kinda prolonged adolescence). Kids like to play and they like to play the role of someone else than 10-16 years old boys/girls. Role play is very popular in other multiplayer games. There is no actual reason, besides your childish egoism, to exclude RP from any advertising plans for GO. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - Pavera - 14.10.2017 Kids don't play games like Gothic. Their childhood game is for example Skyrim. Look at random 'eRPe' server. RE: Adv campaign, future of project and other stuff - AxelF - 14.10.2017 (14.10.2017, 14:07)Pavera Wrote: Kids don't play games like Gothic. Games like cRPGs requires a lot of time and focus. In general, adult people have jobs and families. We don't have time to play it for more than one(max. two) hour per day and more complex storylines are becoming blurry after couple of day. I bought FO4 few months ago and I don't even understand the storyline. Same with Witcher 3. Basically if I could, I would return those games and never buy them. Kids between 10-18 have enough time to play it, live it and follow the story. Also they like to pretend and play the role. This is why SA-MP and ArmA roleplay server are inefsted with horny hormone-driven teenagers who pretend to be Italian or Japanese mafias ![]() @Gracu No offense, but this is very immature reaction. Ironically this explains the shitty situation of your polish community. Bunch of immature "cool guys", who hate other people and laugh at them when you cannot make any argument to counter their point and your ego make it impossible to acknowledge it. |
